The Photo Shoot
The Photo Session
This photo shoot is all about having fun. That is why I really enjoy being in a natural setting with
children. There is no better backdrop for wonderful photos than nature. Being outside helps a
child to relax, feel free and be happy. The South Bay offers many beautiful settings. If you have a
suggestion let me know. The nature of Lifestyle photography is that it is a reflection of your life,
which is why almost all of my sessions take place on location. That location can be your comfy
home, local park or anywhere you find beauty. Lots of natural light always works best. I have
many colorful ideas to assist you if you need some help! Generally, shoots last about 2 hours.
While it is important to choose a time of the day when your child is happiest, keep in mind that for
an outdoor session, early morning light or late afternoon sun is best. For babies 12 months and
younger, your home is the ideal location. At home, your little one will feel safe and relaxed during
the photo session.
What to Wear
You can match if you want! But you don't have to. Matching plaid shirts are a thing of the past.
Future generations will be looking at these photos so timeless is always best. Using lots of
textures, hats and bright colors that compliment your child are recommended. Simple solid colors
always work best for photography. Bare feet are always preferred over shoes on the beach.
Please avoid logos...as they can be distracting.
For babies under the age of 12 months, there is nothing better than being in the buff (once we
are ready to shoot that is).
Newborns
It is best to photograph newborns within 10 days of birth. You may not realize it now but they
change ever so quickly. In just a matter of days newborns start to look like babies, babies like
toddlers and then they are going away to college (don't get me started).
Baby Bump
You may not want to show off that belly while shopping but trust me you want to show it off if your
photos. Bring along several tops. Some that button down (up). Even non-maternity to show off
that belly! Solids work best for maternity shots! Black is always great!
Fur Babies
Yup that would mean your secondary children (or 1st and foremost for some). Pets should be in
their own environment for shoots. If they love the beach lets go there. Fun in the sun in your
backyard. Perfect! You know your pets well... let me know where they will be comfortable.
Retouching
We do offer retouching. It works well for the bruises that always happen the week of photo
sessions. Don't worry about scratches and baby acne. If you don't want to remember it we can do
our best to make it go away!
Following the session
Your proofs will be ready to view online within one week of your session. You will have 4 weeks to
look at and then order your photos from the online gallery. Having your own secure web address
makes it easy to share the photos with family and friends around the world. Please remember
that the online photos are not the same quality as the actual prints and they may look a little soft.
Your actual prints come to you from the highest quality lab to insure a product that you will love
for years to come.
Prints
Prints are all made at a local professional lab in Redondo Beach, CA
Payment Policies
Session fees are $150.00 and payment is required at the time of booking to reserve your
appointment. This is non-refundable.
Cancellations
Cancellations are permitted up to 48 hours before your session. Please call before then so that
your deposit can be applied towards another session date.
